There are twelve accessible/inclusive paintings.  The first is 30" x 40" and is called Ability. The second is 40" x 30" and is called Feel Judgment.   The third is I Was Invited to the Party, 40" x 30".  The next eight paintings are part of the Groundscape series. They are all 16" x 20" and explore the groundscape of my world, since I look to the ground to walk or roll.  There also is a Small Random Acts of Beauty.  The last is We All have Abilities. There is an educational piece called "Words Hurt" that people can take with them.  Through these artworks I tell about my experiences since I became disabled.  And, I hope people can see the abilities and humanity in all people.

Ability

Ability

This painting speaks to our common humanity. See the ability instead of any disability or age. Mr. Rogers said it well, "It's you I like. Not the things you wear." Not the things you need to see or move, or the color of your hair. (I added that last part.) Procion-dyed canvas with acrylic paints. 30" x 40". NFS

Feel Judgment

Feel Judgment

The judgment is present. "the other", "less than". "wheelchair-bound", "courageous", and the rest. The "Judgment" comes before knowing the person. This painting shows how I feel when people won't make eye contact, look away or use old disrespectful terms thoughtlessly. 40"H x "30"W. Acrylics on procion-dyerd canvas. NFS.

I Was Invited to the Party

I Was Invited to the Party

40"H x 30"W. Acrylic paints on dyed canvas. Please be inclusive of people with all abilities. So, the people you invite, who may have a disability or challenges, can also attend "the party."

Tactile Paving

The "tunculateld domes and detectible warning pavers" are interesting to look at, especially with rust. These ground indicators are also known as braille paving. We All have Abilities (sold)

We All have Abilities (sold)

We all have abilities! I did this painting because, when I became a person with a disability, I felt invisible and discounted. People could look away from me, not see me, or see only my impairment. I am more. This painting shows a variety of people including Stevie Wonder. We all have abilities! 18" x 24" Acrylics on procion-dyerd canvas. Part of the VSA traveling exhibit.
